Noted ecologist and ‘Save Silent Valley’ campaigner M.K. Prasad died at 89 – The former Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) president Professor MK Prasad has taken his last breath at the age of 89 due to complications of COVID-19. he was an Eminent environmentalist.
MK Prasad played an important role in the ‘Save Silent Valley’ campaign in the state in the 1970s.
‘Save Silent Valley’ campaign was started to protect a forest ecosystem in the State and was considered as the first popular campaign.

Environmentalist Dr Anil Prakash Joshi, who was conferred upon the Padma Bhushan this year, has been awarded the Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice 2021. Vidyut Mohan, the winner of the Earthshot Prize, and Ridhima Pandey, a young environmental activist from Uttarakhand, were also the recipients of the award.

The Harmony Foundation identifies a theme each year for the Mother Teresa Memorial Awards and felicitates individuals and organisations who work in the realm of augmenting environmental sustainability.
