The BJP will stake claim to form the government in Goa. The Pramod Sawant-led outfit has emerged as the largest single party in the 40-member Assembly. A senior party leader told the Press Trust of India that a delegation would meet Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai in the evening and stake claim. The BJP’s legislature party will meet around 4 PM in Panaji during which the leader will be decided, the senior leader said.
According to Election Commission of India data, the BJP has won five seats and is leading in 15 others. Dr Chandrakant Shetye, the Independent candidate from Bicholim, has already declared his support to the BJP, Asian News International reported.
