Manipur Election Results 2022 Live Updates: With 32 seats, BJP secures majority in Manipur:

The BJP confirmed its return to power in Manipur, with the party bagging 32 seats seats in the 60-member Assembly, according to the Election Commission website. As per the results, NPP, which is a part of the incumbent government, bagged seven seats and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) won six seats. The Congress, on the other hand, decimated in its once-bastion. From being the single-largest party with 27 seats in 2017, the party managed to win only five seats.The Naga People’s Front and the Kuki People’s Alliance won five and two seats respectively.

Incumbent CM Biren Singh won from Heingang seat defeating his rival congress candidate by 18,271 votes. Thanking the people of Manipur for the victory, Singh said he is grateful for the victory, and added that BJP’s victory is a testament of people’s faith in Narendra Modi’s leadership.

The BJP will stake claim to form the government in Goa. The Pramod Sawant-led outfit has emerged as the largest single party in the 40-member Assembly. A senior party leader told the Press Trust of India that a delegation would meet Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai in the evening and stake claim. The BJP’s legislature party will meet around 4 PM in Panaji during which the leader will be decided, the senior leader said.

According to Election Commission of India data, the BJP has won five seats and is leading in 15 others. Dr Chandrakant Shetye, the Independent candidate from Bicholim, has already declared his support to the BJP, Asian News International reported.

Manipur Election Results 2022: Trends Suggest BJP May Be Largest Party | Live Updates


Election trends show the BJP is maintaining its lead and may become the single largest party in the Manipur assembly. But it is yet to reach the majority mark of 31. The counting of votes for the Manipur assembly elections 2022, held in two phases, began at 8 am. The election results will be declared today.
The turnout for the election to the 60-seat Manipur assembly, held on February 28 and March 5, was recorded at 78.03 and 76.04 per cent. The assembly polls will decide the electoral fate of 92 candidates.

This time the BJP decided to go solo and contested all 60 seats alone. On the other hand, Congress formed an alliance of six political parties, including Congress, CPI, CPI(M), Forward Bloc, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), and Janata Dal (Secular).
