Need Senior (10+ years) Linux Systems Engineers with Cloud experience as well as VMware. Experience with IaaS and SaaS is a huge plus as is experience working in the Financial sector but not required.

The Company’s business requires the safekeeping of valuable digital assets so our infosec and IT operations are paramount. This is a key technical role that will help build several data centers, corporate office environments, and cloud based software applications. This includes servers, storage, network, SaaS, monitoring, and everything in between. eenvironment is security first, redundant, able to scale up and out easily, and fully compliant with the highest standards like FedRAMP and NIST. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader and is seen as a subject matter expert in their field. The Senior Systems Engineer (Linux) will be part of a team working closely with both security and engineering groups and reporting to the VP of IT Operations.

Objectives:

Work with the Head of IT Infrastructure to ensure appropriate staffing levels are met.
Prioritize and coordinate Linux team staff engineering and operations activities.
Collaborate on the design and building of the complete production IT infrastructure required to run a highly secure and highly available set of applications across multiple data centers.

Collaborate on the design and building of the corporate IT infrastructure.
Sharing knowledge with team members to help improve the team's overall skills and performance.
Adhere to quality standards and procedures to ensure the best specifications are always met and maintained.
Stay on the forefront of emerging technologies in order to recommend new technology and ideas that improve the platform and efficiency.
Collaborate with peers to generate realistic technical roadmaps across the whole organization.
Collaborate with Engineering to design and implement the tools necessary for a secure and complete software development lifecycle.
Identify tools needed for the NOC team to ensure proper monitoring and operation.
Collaborate with the compliance team to provide required resources, appropriate documentation, and secure access during audits.
Implement and maintain controls and monitoring procedures to ensure availability of critical systems, and minimal service interruptions.
During the early days while building the team, be able to wear many hats, performing critical required duties as necessary.
Determine when services should be outsourced in order to lower costs and/or free up internal team members to tackle tasks that give Protego a competitive advantage without losing required security or functionality. Lead the selection of, evaluation of, and transition to these third parties.
Drive a collaborative culture that values technical depth, accountability, and customer service.
Occasional travel to other company, customer, and vendor offices.
Ability to share in on call rotation and work with remote locations around the world during their hours, as needed.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT FOR THIS ROLE:



Must have Skills: Kafka, Cassandra, Python, Public cloud platform preferably IBM Cloud
Minimum of 3 years' experience working in an architect role in big data and cloud solutions.
Profici
ent in writing and reviewing excellent quality code preferably in Python
Implementation experience of 2-3 projects of handling batch, real-time and near real-time data processing.
Experience with multi-tenant product/solution development
Strong Experience with pub/sub tools like Kafka, Kinesis etc
Strong Experience with No SQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB etc.
Should exhibit a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to effectively share your knowledge.
Work closely with business team to understand solution requirements and propose fit-for-purpose architecture
Execute the hands-on implementation of proposed solutions and provide technical guidance to teams during the solutions' development and deployment phases
Work closely with Infrastructure and InfoSec teams to validate proposed solutions architecture and assist them with due diligence of the same
Proactively provide team members with the information and guidance of engineering methodologies, standards, and best practices around big data and cloud solutions.
Identify, communicate, and mitigate the assumptions, issues, and risks that occur throughout the entire project lifecycle

Bachelors or master's in computer science or equivalent certification

WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:



Understanding the client's business use cases and technical requirements and be able to convert them into technical design which elegantly meets the requirements.
Mapping decisions with requirements and be able to translate the same to developers.
Identifying different solutions and being able to narrow down the best option that meets the client's requirements.
Defining guidelines and benchmarks for NFR considerations during project implementation
Writing and reviewing design document explaining overall architecture, framework, and high-level design of the application for the developers
Reviewing architecture and design on various aspects like extensibility, scalability, security, design patterns, user experience, NFRs, etc., and ensure that all relevant best practices are followed.
Developing and designing the overall solution for defined functional and non-functional requirements; and defining technologies, patterns, and frameworks to materialize it
Understanding and relating technology integration scenarios and applying these learnings in projects
Resolving issues that are raised during code/review, through exhaustive systematic analysis of the root cause, and being able to justify the decision taken.
Conducting POCs to make sure that suggested design/technologies meet the requirements.
