We don’t consider anyone as our opponent…in 2020, a faceoff happened between India and China, and the bravery that was shown by our security forces, maybe that is the reason why China’s perspective about India has changed. They realised that India is not weak anymore…earlier we used to be the biggest importer of defence equipment but now we are in the top 25 countries when it comes to exporting defence items…”

The government of India, in an attempt to resolve and felicitate the Defence veterans, launched a dedicated pensioners portal named Raksha Pension Shikayat Nivaran Portal. The portal was launched by the Hon'ble Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the occasion of Armed Forces Veterans' Day observed every year on January 14th. In addition, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced three new schemes for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. The Raksha Pension Shikayat Nivaran Portal is aimed at resolving disputes over ESMs and their families' family pensions and will benefit current and future military retirees.

Armed Forces Veterans Day 2022:

Armed Forces Veterans Day 2022: Armed Forces Veterans Day is observed on January 14 every year, since 2017. It is celebrated to honour the sacrifice of our veterans in serving the nation. Armed Forces Veterans Day was called Armistice Day when it was announced and this year, the nation will celebrate the 6th Armed Forces Veterans Day. Armed Forces Veterans Day recognises the services rendered by Field Marshal KM Cariappa OBE, the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces. He retired on January 14 in 1953.
Last year on this day, wreath laying ceremony, as well as, Veterans Meet were organised at various Military Stations to mark the solidarity of our veterans. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with late Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat had attended the Veterans Meet at Air Force Station, Bengaluru. NoK, Veterans and representatives of various ex-servicemen organisations were also present at the event.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of BrahMos Missiles production unit and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) lab in Lucknow on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister said, Uttar Pradesh will become a Defence production hub and BrahMos missile will be manufactured in Lucknow which will lead to the creation of new employment opportunities for youth.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the Defence Technology and Test Centre and BrahMos manufacturing centre that will be established by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Lucknow.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajnath Singh said India wants to manufacture BrahMos missiles not to attack anyone, but to ensure that no other country has the audacity to cast an evil eye on it.
The Yogi Adityanath government has allocated 200-acre land for the project in Lucknow. The BrahMos Manufacturing Centre, announced by BrahMos Aerospace, is a modern, state-of-art facility in the Lucknow node of Defence Industrial Corridor, Uttar Pradesh.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated Swarnim Vijay Parv commemorating 50 years of India’s victory in the 1971 war. He inaugurates ‘Wall of Fame -1971 Indo-Pak War’ at the inaugural ceremony. Swarnim Vijay Parv is an event commemorating the valour & professionalism of the Armed Forces and their contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh in the Indo-Pak 1971 war, at India Gate Lawns in New Delhi on December 12, 2021.
The event marks the culmination of year-long celebrations of 50 years of India’s victory in 1971. The event will be opened to the public after the inauguration. Many dignitaries, including those from Bangladesh, will be present.

Shot in the Arm for India-Russia Ties:

Four different pacts in the field of defence were signed at the end of the 20th meeting of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military & Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) by the two countries on Monday, including a contract for procurement of over six lakh AK-203 assault rifles, sources in the government said.

The meeting was held between defence minister Rajnath Singh with his Russian counterpart General Sergey Shoigu. It was followed by the first-ever 2+2 ministerial dialogue between India and Russia being held alongside the 21st annual summit between the two countries, as part of which Russian President Vladimir Putin is visiting Delhi today.

INS Visakhapatnam, a P15B stealth guided-missile destroyer has been commissioned into the Indian Navy at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. This is the first of the four ‘Visakhapatnam’ class destroyers. It has been designed by the Indian Navy’s in-house organization Directorate of Naval Design and constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai. INS Visakhapatnam measures 163m in length, 17m in breadth with a displacement of 7,400 tonnes. It was commissioned in the presence of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh.
