Manchester City led the way in a bumper Boxing Day goal feast in the Premier League on Sunday with a 6-3 win over Leicester City sending them six points clear at the top of the standings.
The opening five games of the COVID-19 impacted festive programme delivered 26 goals with Arsenal romping to a 5-0 win away to bottom club Norwich City and Chelsea enjoying a 3-1 win at Aston Villa. Tottenham Hotspur beat Crystal Palace 3-0 while Southampton enjoyed a surprise 3-2 win at West Ham United.

Premier League:

The Premier League on Thursday postponed six more matches due to the wave of coronavirus infections hitting Britain, but said it intended to "continue its current fixture schedule where safely possible" as calls for a circuit break intensified. Leicester's scheduled match against Tottenham was postponed just hours before kick-off on Thursday. Five more games scheduled for this weekend have also been postponed due to outbreaks at Manchester United, Brentford, Norwich and Watford.

The Premier League continued to be hit by COVID-19 Omicron variant surges in the United Kingdom on Thursday, with six matches postponed, including that day's Leicester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur clash and Saturday's Manchester United vs. Brighton encounter.

The league later added that four additional weekend matches -- Southampton vs. Brentford, Watford vs. Crystal Palace, West Ham United vs. Norwich City, and Everton vs. Leicester -- would also be postponed. The announcements mean that nine league fixtures have been called off this month.

Ralf Rangnick questioned Manchester United's body language after Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty clinched a "lucky" 1-0 victory at struggling Norwich on Saturday. Ronaldo won and converted the second half spot-kick that gave Rangnick a second successive Premier League victory since he replaced the sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Defender Lindelof was substituted as a precaution shortly before Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winning penalty at Carrow Road, with United later saying that the signs were positive after the Sweden captain was checked by medical staff.
