Movie Name: Lego Movie 2 The Second Part

"Not as clever, funny or inventive as its predecessor yet Lego Movie 2 The Second Part is still highly addictive and amusing. Bringing a thematic animated movie once again Lego Movie 2 is able to be funny and sentimental at the same time."

My Ratings: 7 - #Good

The first film #LegoMovie was not only refreshing but it also refreshed the animated genre for every other studio. The sheer amount of creativity and humor that was infused into it was amusing. While #LegoMovie2TheSecondPart tries and does everything right like its predecessor Lego Movie 2 somehow falls short from greatness. It's definitely not on the same level as the first one; however, with that being said there is still a ton of fun to be had here, and this is definitely a movie that all movie lovers should watch at least once in their lifetime. Lego Movie 2 starts five years later from the first film now a new threat emerges for the people of Awesome town, and it's up to Emmet (#ChrisPratt) to save his town and friends from the evil new species. Sure the original movie had a generic Chosen One plot, but the rampant self-awareness made it smart and enjoyable still. At times, #TheLegoMovie2 seems more straight in its genericness but certainly not always, or as badly as in the spin-offs. If you liked the first movie, then rest assure you will like this movie it brings your favorite characters from the first one only to develop and be more likable. However, Lego Movie 2 also brings new voice talents and characters as well. The film contains a lot of references to many Lego-related materials, there many more easter eggs from different pop-culture. As with the previous film, every solitary item on screen exists in Lego-brick form in the real world. All movements are constricted to ones that real Lego can physically make, albeit with a few extra pieces added to the characters when they need to perform more fluid motions. The lighting, texturing, and frame rate also enhances the illusion that these are real toys shot with a camera. The endlessly nifty CGI is one thing about these movies I shall never grow tired of. Along with Spider-Verse, I hope this series keeps signaling to Hollywood studios how attractive unique presentation can be. The film's core parts do come in the real world where we see siblings trying to get together like the previous movie these moments are tender and sentimental, yes, childish but sweet. There is lesson mirroring the events in the film, the sibling rivalry and learning to play nicely with one another. But whilst this is definitely a really enjoyable second outing, the film does lack the same spark of originality that the original Lego Movie had. But anyone who enjoyed the fast-paced wholesome quality of the first Lego Movie will not be disappointed by this entertaining follow up. #ChristopherMiller and #PhilLord go all in on their own brand of meta-humor, ranging from characters being self-aware of their own roles in the film to cameos from a #RuthBaderGinsburg figure and even #BruceWillis, who is found in the air ducts just like #DieHard. As it stands, Lego Movie 2 is still a feel-good explosion accompanied by visuals as aesthetically appealing as they are creatively designed. The music is also enjoyable, there some good musicals with great enjoyable songs. Then there's "Catchy Song", created to be exactly what it says, and the fact that it sounds like most other popular songs right now is only in accordance with the joke. Overall, Lego Movie 2 may not be as best as the first movie, it's certainly a decent entry in the Lego franchise.

Bonus
Voice talents. Animation. Light humor. Screenplay. Music.
