During the Maha Kumbh 2025, toilet waste is being managed through a combination of innovative technologies and infrastructure.

Since conventional sewerage systems are not feasible in the temporary Mela area, the waste is collected in septic tanks and transported via 250 cesspool vehicles to prefabricated Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs). Technologies like the hybrid granular Sequencing Batch Reactor (hgSBR) and bioremediation techniques are used for sewage and greywater treatment.

These measures aim to ensure effective waste management while maintaining cleanliness and minimizing environmental impact.
