The Proteas ended up at 94 for four and needed 211 points on Day 5, with Dean Elgar (52) holding the fort at one end. The hosts experienced a first-rate meltdown again with Mohammed Shami taking the wicket from Aiden Markram before Mohammed Siraj took out Keegan Petersen. Meanwhile, Bumrah recorded the layoffs of Rassie van der Dussen and Keshav Maharaj. His first dismissal from the heats came in the 37th with van der Dussen in the crease. Receiving a good-length pitch, the batter tried to dodge it, but the ball ended up moving sharply to hit his stump. Van der Dussen could only record 11 points out of 65 balls.
