  • Movie Name : Friday The 13th

“The first outing of the worldly famous Jason Voorhees might be a forgettable and poorly written movie, but surely builds a foundation around how brutal and savage the franchise can be with its bloody deaths.”

    SharpRatings: 5 - #Meh
Tagline: They were warned...They are doomed...And on Friday the 13th, nothing will save them.

Skimmed off the success and idea behind #Halloween, #FridayThe13th is nothing much a rehash of that film but that doesn’t mean that Friday the 13th doesn’t bring in new idea and concepts. The first film never really gives us the look of famous Jason Voorhees, most of the killings are done technique used in Halloween where the audience sees through the eyes of the killer we only see hands of the killer and sometimes the weapon used. The technique is nothing new but since the movie doesn’t hold any real material for actors to follow its just one long night of killing one teenager at a time. It works as a video game something that inspired the real Friday the 13th video game too. the real plot doesn’t kick in until the final moments of the film, where everything is revealed its nothing special or mind-blowing but does give our star killer some ground. Like many slasher movies from that era the cast is very young and nothing special they are only in the movie for bloody deaths and explicit sex scenes. #BetsyPalmer, #AdrienneKing and #KevinBacon and some of the names of the top of mind rest are pretty unknown actors. Though the film is taken high by the fans of Jason, I found it pretty dull and un-gripping, we never connect to anything characters, deaths or even main story. It's just mindless but good slasher movie. The movie however just feels that its made around the gore filled-practical effects death scenes and doesn’t hold enough material to really watch, true popcorn flick though.

    Bonus
Harry Manfredhi classic main theme. Star is born.

    Drawback
    No story weight.

  • The other day I mentioned the movie "Diner" to a friend who was unaware of the 1982 Barry Levinson movie. I realized that those who appreciate good writing and have never seen it - are really missing out. If now, 35 years later you have not seen DINER, make it a priorit.

  • Kevin Bacon
Born: July 8, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Kevin Norwood Bacon was born on July 8, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Ruth Hilda (Holmes), an elementary school teacher, and Edmund Norwood Bacon, a prominent architect who was on the cover of Time Magazine in November 1964.
Kevin's early training as an actor came from The Manning Street. His debut as the strict Chip Diller in Animal House (1978) almost seems like an inside joke, but he managed to escape almost unnoticed from that role. Diner (1982) became the turning point after a couple of television series and a number of less-than-memorable movie roles. In a cast of soon-to-be stars, he more than held his end up, and we saw a glimpse of the real lunatic image of The Bacon. He also starred in Footloose (1984), She's Having a Baby (1988), Tremors (1990) with Fred Ward, Flatliners (1990), and Apollo 13 (1995).
Bacon is married to actress Kyra Sedgwick, with whom he has 2 children.
