Full Job Description

This position will require travel throughout the Western Region. This position can be housed either at Bland Correctional Center or Marion Correctional Center.

Manage and direct the quality assurance program for the food and beverage processing centers, and vegetable farms within the agribusiness operations. To assure quality control of food products manufactured within the department. The quality assurance specialist is responsible for the administration of existing HACCP programs as well as the design & implementation of new HACCP plans. To assure produce operations are in compliance with VDACS regulations.

This is a full-time restricted position. Restricted positions are classified positions with at least 10% of its funding from non-continuous or non-recurring funding sources, such as grants, donations, contracts, capital outlay projects or higher education auxiliary enterprise revenues.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Required technical skills are the ability to design, implement, manage & monitor HACCP programs. Working knowledge of USDA,FDA,OSHA, WPS &VDACS regulations, ability to design, write, & implement procedural manuals & assist in customer relation programs for DOC manufacturing plants. Experience in quality assurance of food manufacturing. Experience in food safety and the Food Safety Modernization Act. Working knowledge & familiarity with data based programs such as Excel.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer degree from an accredited college or university in agricultural/life science, dairy science, food service, a related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training.
