What will you be doing?
Delivery (75%)
Be responsible for migrating existing applications to and creating new application in Barclays Public Cloud environment.
Create new and leverage existing deployment and testing pipelines, automated provisioning of cloud infrastructure, and infrastructure support services such as monitoring. There are a lot of moving pieces to fit together so communication is essential to ensure nothing is not missed.
Ensure that the team have an understanding of operational requirements, and take a shared responsibility for designing and implementing infrastructure for delivering and running software services.
Provide advice regarding the cross-functional aspects of user stories which may not always be obvious from the start. Watching out for performance bottlenecks and scaling pitfalls are all within the realms of an Cloud Engineer.
Coach colleagues within the team and area on cloud adoption so your patience and a desire to take others along with you is absolutely key
Stakeholder Management and Leadership (25%)
This would require engagement with application development team for deployment and application requirements, central RFT Cloud Enablement team for guidance and background, Run/Ops team for defining operating model and completing migration testing.
Promote and drive stewardship and application best practices within the development team
Champion innovation by recognising newly arising opportunities for improving customer satisfaction, achieving technical excellence and improving the delivery of a software product.
Ability to be able to provide succinct details in written format and verbally to Stakeholders
Selected candidate would also be expected to take a role in coaching and educating others on the proposed cloud migration approach.
What We’re Looking For
Hands on experience on latest CI-CD tools
Version Control Systems
Scripting languages like python, ruby, groovy
Jenkins, TeamCity
Build and Deployment strategies
Strong knowledge of shell scripting and Linux OS
Devops experience on AWS
Knowledge about cloud technologies like Docker, kubernetes, AWS, chef
Troubleshooting skills
Detailed understanding of Release management process
Excellent communication skills.
Good to have, hands on experience on programming languages like Java
Possess strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, Object Oriented
