"I thought our guys did a good job playing a complete game, that's what we wanted to be able to do coming in here," McVay said.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette has taken full advantage of the opportunity to further his NFL career with what he affectionately calls "Last Chance U."
Not only have the Buccaneers been a good fit for the 26-year-old running back in his second season with the Super Bowl champions, Fournette is flourishing in a role he initially struggled to accept.
This season, the Bucs have relied on Fournette for their running attack. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury forced the running back to miss the end of the season on injured reserve (IR).

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady earned the seventh Super Bowl ring of his career last February and roughly six months before his 44th birthday, and personal trainer and TB12 business partner Alex Guerrero suggested this past summer the future Hall of Famer had at least another two NFL seasons left in the tank.
One of Brady's former teammates apparently isn't so sure about that.
Rob Ninkovich, who previously played with Brady as a member of the New England Patriots, recently said on ESPN's "Get Up" he can envision the G.O.A.T. calling time on his playing days sooner rather than later.

  • In news that will shock absolutely nobody who has followed his Hall of Fame career, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is focused on the task at hand heading into Sunday's home playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, the 44-year-old signal-caller took a deserved day off practice Thursday but made it clear that he's committed to eliminating and avoiding any potential distractions before the weekend and his next must-win matchup.
"I don’t do anything extra this week," Brady explained, according to PFT's Michael David Smith. "I just want to do football. That’s all I want to do, prepare and get ready. That’s how we should all approach it. This isn’t the time for the trips to the movie theaters. This is the time to lock in on football. This is all we have, three days left and then we’ve got to earn more. Look at it like that, everything, you can put off until the end of the year, and we hope the end of the year isn’t Sunday. But you have to earn it."

  • In a preview of an episode of "I Am Athlete" that will be posted in full on Jan. 24, Brown tells former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall that he's not suffering from mental health issues.
"Everyone in the world got a different form of reactions of what happened to me. And it's all based upon where you from, how you feel, and no one really gonna know that regardless of who you is," Brown said. "The thing with football players, mental health and CTE is this: These guys are willing to do whatever it take to make some obligated gain. But in the midst of those gains, along that journey, they're being mistreated, there's a lot of stuff that went on that may not have been handled right.

  • Tampa Bay dealt with numerous injuries to key players all year long, but things came to a head Sunday when All-Pro right tackle Tristan Wirfs suffered a game-ending ankle sprain.
As it currently stands, the Bucs do not know if they'll be with or without their stud right tackle when they face off against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon. To make matters worse, Tampa Bay probably won't have a concrete idea as to whether or not Wirfs plays until Friday.
And to make matters even more worse, the Bucs might be without their backup swing tackle in Josh Wells, too. The Bucs won't know what's going on with Wells in a realistic sense until probably Friday, as well.

  • Much remains the same on the Buccaneers' latest injury report, other than cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (hamstring) bumped up to limited participation after not practicing in Wednesday's walk-through. Murphy-Bunting didn't suit up in the Wild Card round due to his injury.
Quarterback Tom Brady and defensive tackle Steve McLendon were offered rest days on Thursday.
Friday will be a big day for offensive linemen Tristan Wirfs (ankle), Ryan Jensen (ankle) and Josh Wells (quadriceps), as Wirfs and Jensen have been sidelined all week due to injuries suffered against Philadelphia in the Wild Card round. Wells, also hurt last Sunday, has made the most progress of the three and would be slated to start at right tackle against the Rams if Wirfs can't suit up.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said he will appeal a reported $50,000 fine from the NFL for slapping the helmet of one of his own players in Sunday’s wildcard game.
Arians incurred the fine, first reported by NFL Network on Wednesday, after smacking Buccaneers safety Andrew Adams during the defending champions’ 31-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I’ll appeal it,” Arians told reporters on Wednesday. “It ain’t got nothing to do with the game, so we’re good.”

  • Opinion:
TAMPA — If there was one play from the blowout that epitomized the state of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they intensify the quest to repeat as Super Bowl champs, it came courtesy of Shaquil Barrett in the middle of the third quarter on Sunday.
On a fourth down, Barrett feigned a blitz, then dropped into coverage. Jalen Hurts, the young Eagles quarterback locked on his target, tried to loft a pass over the linebacker’s head. No go. Barrett took to the sky to deflect the pass – to himself – for an open-field interception. Then he zipped and dashed 17 yards with the return.
“That was the play of the year!” Bucs receiver Mike Evans declared after Tampa Bay put away Philadelphia by a 31-15 count to advance to the NFC divisional playoffs.
