In May 2021 Ford has launched Ford F-150 lightning light duty truck. It is Ford's Fourteenth generation F-series car. The Ford F-150 Lightning is an electric car. It is a full size light duty truck. Ford has announced four models and its entire model are dual motor, four wheel drive. Its EPA is as per company is 230-300 miles i.e. 370 -480 km.

By launching the all-electric F-150 Lightning, Ford has embarked on its most ambitious innovation. It is a quick and capable pickup truck with zero emissions. In 2021, Ford F-150 Lightning is not the only one launched in the market, GMC's Hummer EV SUT and the Rivian R1T have launched this year too. This F-150 electric version of America's favorite truck starts at a much more affordable price than those two rivals.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

With the Standard-Range battery, the two combined motors make 452 horsepower but with the Extended-Range battery the horsepower capacity increases to 580. Its peak torque is very impressive i.e. 775 pound-feet with both of these setups. Performance is brisk for such a heavy truck.

It can achieve 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and not only its lightning-quick acceleration but it can manage to maintain the normal F-150's refined road manners.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The EV pickup could tow a 1,000,000-pound line of train cars loaded with F-150s. As per the official maximum towing capacity of the production model it can tow mere 10,000 pounds, but only trucks with the optional battery with Extended-Range are capable of this much load. Rather battery with Standard-Range models is limited to a 7700-pound capacity. Payload capacity is as high as 2000 pounds for the Standard-Range model and as low as 1800 pounds for the Extended-Range.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

Ford claims a driving range of 230 miles per charge to 320 miles. Buyers will be able to charge their F-150 Lightnings at their homes via 110- and 220-volt outlets also the truck is capable of juicing at public DC fast-charging stations too. ord says it can charge from 15 percent to 80 percent of battery capacity in 44 minutes. Ford also engineered the F-150 Lightning to serve as a backup generator and says a fully-charged truck can supply up to three days of electricity for the average household in the event of a power outage.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

F-150 Lightning's cabin is almost the same as the gasoline-powered F-150 with a very few differences such as an extra-large infotainment display and a voluminous front-trunk cargo bay. The F-150 Lightning is offered only as a crew-cab with a 5.5-foot bed. The F-150 Lightning offers a large front trunk that utilizes the empty space where the normal F-150's engine would sit to carry additional cargo weighing up to 400 pounds.
